Our research centers on the interaction of light with various organic substances, from solution-based photoswitches to solid-state topochemical cycloaddition processes. By understanding these interactions at the molecular or atomic level, we can effectively employ light to introduce novel material capabilities. We particularly investigate how light can introduce strain in molecular structures and trigger phase changes, with the goal of promoting sustainable solar energy storage and efficient industrial chemical recycling.
